AssocRICS or Chartered Building Surveyor Vacancy
Location: Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire
About the Role
Woodward Chartered Surveyors are seeking an AssocRICS or Chartered Building Surveyor to join our expanding, well-established private practice. We are specifically looking for an individual capable of working unsupervised in producing Level 2 and 3 reports in accordance with the RICS Home Survey Standard. The successful candidate will demonstrate technical competence and excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
You will be expected to be competent in the following: -
• Building Inspections: Perform detailed on-site inspections of residential properties, identifying defects and other critical factors affecting property conditions.
• Building Pathology: Diagnose common and complex building defects, determine the causes and provide clear, actionable recommendations for the client.
• Report Writing: Prepare, clear written reports which adequately communicate the inspection process, the circumstances, any restrictions, your findings and conclusions.
• Client Interaction: Provide expert advice to clients, address their concerns and ensure they are well-informed throughout the surveying process. Build and maintain strong professional relationships with clients and fellow employees.

Work Environment
This position is based at our Rickmansworth office. Woodward strongly believe in the value of in-person collaboration to foster a positive team dynamic, ensure high standards, and accelerate professional development. We require employees working through a probationary period of employment to be office-based to ensure that they fully integrate with the team and can quickly become familiar with the company procedures. However, we do recognise that some candidates may be seeking a hybrid home/office working arrangement in the longer term and we are open to a discussion.
